Phase I oncology trials are no longer limited to dose-escalation and safety assessment. Advances in precision medicine, immunotherapy, and cell and gene therapies have transformed early-phase studies into critical platforms for generating evidence that guides development decisions across the oncology lifecycle.

At the same time, the global landscape of oncology research is evolving, with China emerging as a major center for innovation and early clinical development. These shifts are reshaping trial design, evidence generation, and regulatory expectations worldwide.
